Accreditation and Approval

Test Laboratories

The German national accreditation body DAkkS confirms that the test laboratories of the Test and Research Institute Pirmasens (Prüf- und Forschungsinstitut Pirmasens e.V.) are competent according to DIN ISO/IEC 17025:2005  to conduct tests in the following areas:

• Chemical, physical, and mechanical-technological tests on consumer goods, footwear, materials consisting of leather, plastics, textiles, and toys
• Mechanical examination of eyewear
• Tests on Personal Protective, Equipment
• Microbiological tests on consumer goods, leather, textiles, plastics, and other materials for antimicrobial properties and selected procedures for microbiological studies on consumer goods, articles of furniture, leather, and textiles
• Physical and chemical studies on water, waste water, sludges, biomass, fermenter contents, digestates, biowastes, wastes, and soils

Certification Body

The German national accreditation body DAkkS confirms that the certification body of the Test and Research Institute Pirmasens (Prüf- und Forschungsinstitut Pirmasens e.V.) is competent according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015  to carry out certification of management systems in the following areas:

• DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 Quality management systems
• DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 Environmental management systems
• DIN EN ISO 50001:2011 Energy management systems
• DIN EN ISO 13485:2016 Quality management systems – Medical devices
• PPE Regulation 2016/425 Management systems - PPE

The German national accreditation body DAkkS confirms that the certification body of the Test and Research Institute Pirmasens (Prüf- und Forschungsinstitut Pirmasens e.V.) is competent according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065:2013­ to carry out certification of products, processes and services in the following areas:

• PPE Regulation 2016/425
• Section 20 of the German Product Safety Act (§ 20 ProdSG)

The Central Office of the Federal States for Safety Engineering (ZLS) confirms that the Test and Research Institute Pirmasens (Prüf- und Forschungsinstitut Pirmasens e.V.) is duly authorised to

• Conduct conformity assessments of Personal Protection Equipment according to PPE Regulation 2016/425 
  - Foot and leg protection
  - Hand protection
  - Eye protection
• Award the GS Mark to products in accordance with  Section 20 of the German Product Safety Act (§ 20 ProdSG)

Inspection Body

The German accreditation body  DAkkS confirms that the inspection body of the Test and Research Institute Pirmasens (Prüf- und Forschungsinstitut Pirmasens e.V.) is competent as a Type A inspection body according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020:2012 to perform inspections in in the following areas:

• Materials testing – Post-shipment inspection of leather and plastic products
